Professor Nau holds a B.S degree in Economics, Politics, Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and MA and Ph.D degrees in international relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He has taught at Williams College and as a visiting professor at SAIS, Stanford and Columbia Universities. From January 1981 to July 1983, he served as a senior staff member of the National Security Council in the White House responsible for international economic affairs. Henry Nau also served, in 1975-1977, as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Department of State. He teaches graduate courses in US foreign policy, US foreign economic policy, international political economy, and science, technology, and public policy. He also currently directs the US-Japan Economic Agenda, a research and public policy forum at the Elliott School.
Pr.Nau is the author of the widely read book, The Myth of America's Decline (1990) and in 1995, Trade and Security : US Policies at Cross Purposes. His most recent book is : At Home Abroad : Identity and Power in American Foreign Policy, which has been published in January 2002.
He will talk about the current foreign economic policy of the US at a time of particular importance as it seems that under President Bush international policy is evolving more towards unilateralism than multilateralism.and protectionism seems to strengthen regarding agricultural subsidies, steel, textile etc
