French-German Economic Forum |
Meeting |
  |
The purpose of the Deutsch-Französisches Wirtschaftspolitisches Forum/Forum économique franco-allemand is to contribute to this discussion through the organisation of a series of informal meetings between French and German economists.
The Forum assembles professional economists from academia, business and the public sector. As a non-partisan institution, the Forum brings together participants from all strands of thinking about economic policy with the aim of stimulating fruitful debate. Each meeting is devoted to one or two major policy issues: employment, exchange rate policies, the organisation of economic policy in Economic and Monetary Union, its relations with non-participating countries, and the immediate policy challenges on the eve of monetary union, to name just a few. The Forum commissions papers to provide an informed basis for the discussion, but the focus is on debate and the exchange of views, starting with reactions from discussants whose role will be to present alternative views and to frame the key issues for the debate. |
